Kiwix is a Swiss non-profit association, founded in 2006 and registered in Lausanne, that lets you download Wikipedia, Project Gutenberg and other collections in a single file and read them anywhere with no connection. Its funding comes mostly from grants, led by the Wikimedia Foundation, along with donations and paid services for organisations, and it publishes audited accounts.

There is nothing to sign up for and nothing watching what you look up. It scores lower on Delivery because a download is a snapshot that goes stale, and the biggest collections need a lot of storage. For a classroom, a long flight or a village with a poor connection, it is hard to beat.
