PeerTube is video-sharing software that runs on a server of your own, and each site connects to others to form a network. Framasoft, a French non-profit, develops it and says it does not make money from it, with over 90% of its funding coming from donations. The software depends on no advertising and does not track you, and each platform's owners build, manage and moderate their own.
That makes it a different thing from a short-video feed, and closer to a place to keep and share video you made. The cost is that rules differ from one platform to the next, since each owner sets their own, and the audience is small next to the giants. We did not check how easy it is to take your videos and followers elsewhere.

This badge reports a dated review. It is not a certification and it costs nothing. Link it to this page and leave the numbers alone: the image always shows the current score.

For comparison, we also reviewed Instagram (7/30) and TikTok (6/30) as a benchmark.
