Newsboat
An RSS reader that lives in your terminal.
Instead of Google News
Screenshot from newsboat.org, taken 2026-10-23, shown to help you recognise the tool. It belongs to its maker. Ask us to remove it.
Newsboat reads RSS feeds in a terminal window, with keyboard shortcuts and a text file for your subscriptions. It is tiny, and nothing leaves your machine except the feed requests.
It is for people who live in a terminal, so Delivery is a 2 for everyone else.
- Reads RSS in the terminal, with keyboard shortcuts
- Subscriptions live in a plain text file
- For terminal people only

This badge reports a dated review. It is not a certification and it costs nothing. Link it to this page and leave the numbers alone: the image always shows the current score.
For dark backgrounds, use newsboat-dark.svg in place of newsboat-light.svg.
For comparison, we also reviewed Google News (15/30) as a benchmark.
